Pink Ribbon Launches a Schematic Tear-Off Pad for Breast Clinics Outlining the Breast Cancer Care Pathway

When a breast cancer diagnosis is made, a complex journey begins, filled with medical terms and various stages of treatment. To support communication between doctors and patients in the exam room, Pink Ribbon is introducing the notepad “Your Breast Cancer Care Journey.”
The concept is as simple as it is effective: during the consultation, the healthcare provider goes over the various steps with the patient. The doctor can make notes directly on the sheet, indicate specific treatments, or cross them out or add them. This creates a personalized, visual, chronological overview on the spot—from diagnosis to follow-up. After the consultation, the patient takes the personalized sheet home.
A Roadmap from Diagnosis to Aftercare
The tear-off pad clearly outlines the entire process, including:
- additional imaging and biopsy
- Multidisciplinary Oncology Consultation (MOC)
- surgery and any necessary reconstruction
- chemotherapy, radiation therapy, targeted therapy, or hormone therapy
- Follow-up and regular checks
To make the information even more accessible, the back of each page provides additional, easy-to-understand explanations of the most common medical terms and treatments. This gives patients and their families the opportunity to review the information at home, at their own pace, and discuss it with their loved ones.
Broad expertise and distribution
The project was launched on the initiative of Lieven Uvin, who, together with Pink Ribbon the concept. He is also responsible for the logistical distribution to the breast clinics. To ensure medical accuracy, the nonprofit organization drew on the expertise of physician and medical journalist Marleen Finoulst, with support from the Board of Directors and the Pink Ribbon team.
The notepads are currently being proactively distributed to breast clinics in Flanders.
