Take the Mammo Quiz
Why was the Mammo Quiz created?
TheMammoquiz was created as a prevention and detection campaign by Pink Ribbon. It is a test designed to visualize your risk profile for late detection of breast cancer. If you catch it early when you have breast cancer, treatment is usually less invasive and the chance of cure is higher. After going through this quiz, you will find out for yourself how likely you are to discover breast cancer early. This is represented by a corresponding animal profile. For example, if you are a watchdog, you are very vigilant about breast cancer. You know the alarm signals and will not easily skip a checkup or mammogram. Moreover, you are well informed and can easily distinguish facts from fables about breast cancer. On the other hand, if your results land on the profile of a parrot or an ostrich, you may not be as well informed about breast cancer. Fake news or myths about breast cancer sometimes trick you into thinking that your risk of discovering breast cancer late is unfortunately higher.
The lower the risk score you receive, the lower your risk of late detection of breast cancer. Since early detection increases your chances of survival, it is important to read your results and take the tips to heart.
To be clear, this does not tell you how high your risk of developing breast cancer is. In fact, that depends on a variety of factors such as your lifestyle or genetics.
Listedprofile ostrich becomes campground mascot Sandy
Launch
On 24/09/2024 during Pink Ribbon s annual press conference, Sandy, the ostrich mascot, will be announced as the figurehead of the Mammoquiz campaign. In the wake of the October 2024 International Breast Cancer Month, Sandy will make her appearance at several events: the nocturne at the KMSKA, the Anderlecht Ladies Run, on the stage of the Brussels Volkstejoeter and during a company visit to our financial partner Medi-Market.
Mammo quiz gets political visibility
Sandy in European and Federal Parliament
The most notable moment in the busy calendar of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, October 2024, was the visit to the European and Belgian Federal Parliaments. Sandy called on the presidents, Metsola and De Roover, and members to raise awareness about breast cancer and participate in the Mammoquiz. No fewer than 124 MPs completed the survey. The results showed that MPs generally scored better than the Belgian average. 52% of the members agreed with the dolphin test. They are well informed, but there is still room for improvement in terms of attitudes about screening. The higher risk profiles were significantly less represented. Only 27% qualified as parrot, 5% were sloths, 4% ostriches and only 1.5% came out on the fear hare profile. A striking result, but also a sign that there are also yards open within the governments in the field of breast cancer prevention.
What else was on the Mammoquiz agenda
PinkPink Monday 2025: Mammo quiz for businesses
OpPink Monday 2025, the Mammoquiz took center stage. Pink Ribbon issued an appeal to participating companies to complete the Mammoquiz for companies. This way, companies could also engage in a prevention campaign at work. The results were shared in an anonymous report so that each company could take stock of the risk profiles within their workplace. RESULT
Wherewas Sandy in 2025?
In2025, Sandy did not remain idle. On the 20 km through Brussels and also on the Walk for Pink Ribbon she came into action again. The runners and walkers who had themselves sponsored for Pink Ribbon at these events could have their picture taken with Sandy afterwards as a souvenir. That is appreciated. Of course, it's about more than just a photo opportunity. Sandy is mainly present to warm up interested parties to participate in the Mammoquiz.
Spread the Word
If you run into Sandy at a Pink Ribbon, don't hesitate to take a fun photo together. Share your photo on socials and use the hashtags #PinkRibbon #Mammoquiz. Sharing is always sweet, but in this case, you're sharing awareness. You might even help someone close to you notice alarm signals faster and treat breast cancer better. That's how you save lives.

The Mammoquiz looks ahead
Breast cancer prevention must be accessible
Language should not be a barrier to accessing breast cancer prevention programs and screening information. Pink Ribbon therefore committed over the years to making the Mammoquiz available in the most relevant languages for the Belgian population.
The Mammoquiz is therefore available in the following languages:
- Dutch
- French
- German
- English
- Spanish
- Polish
- Turkish
- Arabic
The Mammoquiz deserves further support - especially in Brussels and Wallonia.
Especially since our figures indicate that much work remains to be done: 1 in 4 Belgian women remain at increased risk of late detection. Communities in Brussels and Wallonia, in particular, require much more attention. Unfortunately, currently only 50% to 60% of Belgian women respond to breast cancer screenings. In Brussels and Wallonia, this number drops to 10%. However, biannual breast cancer screenings for women between 50 and 69 years of age reduce mortality from breast cancer by 51%. The WHO's goal is to reach a 75% participation rate. Along with population screenings, tools like the Mammoquiz can make a difference. For that reason, Pink Ribbon is still looking for support for this project.
The ultimate goal: fewer ostriches, more watchdogs!
