1,000 copies of the book *Embraces* distributed: “Support in the journey following a diagnosis”
The book, written by physician-journalist and our editor-in-chief Marleen Finoulst, has proven to be a huge success. Since 2024, Pink Ribbon has distributed the first 1,000 copies free of charge through breast clinics and drop-in centers, where the book is offered to new breast cancer patients and their loved ones as a source of support.
The fact that it achieves its goal is evident from the patients’ own responses. It was also distributed at the La Via La drop-in center in Ottignies, where patients can take the book home or read it on site. “It’s a warm and hopeful read, full of testimonials that can support patients in their journey following diagnosis,” says coordinator Coleen Godart. “They often read it bit by bit, whenever they feel the need. This way, various taboo topics are addressed, such as intimacy, which they don’t have to discuss right away if they don’t feel ready.”
Due to high demand, the book is now also available through the online store.
