Information about breast cancer

Dear Reader,

In this newsletter, just before summer, we’d like to highlight our upcoming walks with Walking.be : the Longest Day in Trois-Ponts and the Grape Tour in Tervuren. With summer approaching, we often have a little more time to reflect. Did you know, for example, that self-employed people return to work faster after breast cancer than employees?

We also spoke with job coach Leen who, as an expert by experience, helps people return to work after their cancer journey. And before you know it, International Breast Cancer Awareness Month will be here again. Read on below to see how your company can support the fight against breast cancer in October. We’ll wrap up this newsletter with the great results from the bloomon Mother’s Day campaign and the launch of our brand-new merch.

Enjoy reading!

Do self-employed people return to work more quickly after breast cancer?

Research shows that self-employed people with cancer generally remain active longer during their illness and return to work sooner than employees. However, returning to work earlier does not necessarily mean a faster recovery. Read here the full article here.

“Former patients aren’t asking for special treatment—just for someone to listen to them”: job coach Leen on returning to work

Officially, she’s retired, but sitting still isn’t in Leen Goossens’ (63) vocabulary. Drawing on her years of experience as a coach, in HR, and from her own journey with cancer, she now supports people who are finding their way back to work and life after cancer

“People often view their lives and work differently after such a period. That’s why open communication is so important, from both the employee’s and the employer’s perspective,” says Leen. Read Leen’s full story here
