Your risk of breast cancer and what you can do about it

Breast cancer instills fear, and fear feeds misunderstandings and uncertainties. Can you eat soy? Is a tight bra bad for your breasts? What about deodorant? What about stress? All kinds of stories are circulating on social media. What is fantasy and what is science? Pink Ribbon your compass.

Social media platforms are playing an increasingly important role as a source of health information, but that role is twofold: they can provide support and information, but they can also spread misconceptions that fuel stress and anxiety. Issues are misrepresented, causing many people to feel unjustified fear. The spread of myths and misinformation about breast cancer on social media has an impact on how people view the disease. It reinforces fear and uncertainty and fuels irrational beliefs. It becomes difficult to see the forest for the trees.

To familiarize yourself with all the risk factors for breast cancer and to alert you to common misconceptions, visit www.pink-ribbon.be for a comprehensive section on how to avoid breast cancer, which risk factors you can do something about, which you cannot do anything about, and others that do not hold water.
