1,350 walkers raise €2,000 at the KennedyMars Maasland

On Saturday, September 13, hundreds of courageous walkers braved weather, wind and sore feet for the KennedyMars Maasland. Traditionally, the entire proceeds go to three charities. This year the organization collected € 2,000 for the benefit of Pink Ribbon.

The KennedyMars is a walking challenge in which participants cover eighty kilometers in less than twenty hours. As many as 1,350 walkers took up this challenge or chose a shorter walking route through the natural landscapes of the Maasland region.

The KennedyMars Maasland is an organization of Rotary Maasland Lanklaar and Rotary Maaseik. Under the motto, Service above self, the entire proceeds of the event go to charity. Pink Ribbon vzw was one of them this year and was able to receive proceeds of 2,000 euros.

Among other things, Pink Ribbon has 16 walking groups, called Pinky Pioneers, across the country. Each group has a trained walking coach who goes out at set times with a group of walkers. Also during the KennedyMars Maasland, Pinky Pioneer Kim François was present to encourage the walkers. Kim coaches the walking group De Buitenbeentjes in Herenthout and goes out three times a month with walkers from her walking club.

The next edition of the KennedyMars Maasland will take place on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026. More info via www.kennedymarsmaasland.be
