Welcome to the Sa Marsj Walking Group! by Michèle Lippus
Who is the walking coach?
Michèle Lippus (57) decided in 2026 to become a walking coach at Pink Ribbon. Having undergone cancer treatment herself, she knows better than anyone that afterward your body feels tired and your energy levels are unpredictable. With her walking group, she wants to help people who have recovered from or are recovering from cancer to exercise at a pace that suits them.
In three words, Michèle would describe herself as resourceful, a nature lover, and resilient.
How often do we go hiking?
Michèle meets up with her group at various times:
- Thursday: every week in the morning
- Wednesday: every other week in the evening (from June through September)
- Sunday: Monthly themed walk
The meeting point and time will be announced via the Sa Marsj! WhatsApp group.
What region are we hiking in?
Sa Marsj! offers walks in the Mechelen region and along the border with Flemish Brabant: Muizen, Bonheiden, and Boortmeerbeek.

Count steps instead of minutes
We are advised to be active for 150 minutes each week for a healthy life and the lowest possible risk of cancer, but counting active minutes is not so helpful. According to new research, you might as well express your activity in increments. A lot more practical.

In the same boat
Moving together heals body and soul. This is proven by the Pink Ribbonettes, women with breast cancer who row on water courses in Brussels, Lier and Turnhout.

When a doctor gets breast cancer
Sofie De Vuysere is a physician specializing in medical imaging. She was diagnosed with breast cancer 20 years ago, at the age of 33. In her book "In Her Own Mind," she describes how she experienced and survived the rollercoaster, how medicine changed in those years and what yoga can do.
