Donate your ponytail
What is it?
As part of psychosocial care for breast cancer patients, Pink Ribbon is also collecting ponytails. You save for a ponytail of at least 35cm. You send the donation and Pink Ribbon processes the hair so that it can be made into a wig by a Belgian wigmaker. By donating hair, you can help them obtain a beautiful, natural wig.
How does it work?
To donate your hairs, they must meet some conditions:
- Your ponytail is at least 35 cm long. The longer your hair, the more valuable the tail becomes.
- Your hair is freshly washed and completely dry.
- Your hair is healthy. Hair that has been permed or bleached can only be used for wigs if it is healthy. If in doubt, check with your hairdresser.

What a beautiful gesture that you would like to donate your ponytail! Thanks to your ponytail, you are helping others with breast cancer keep their hair.
Cutting yourself
You can get started with the scissors yourself and deliver your tail to Pink Ribbon .
How to donate hair correctly.
- Request your "Cut for Hair" envelope.
- Make sure your hair is freshly washed and completely dry.
- Make a ponytail and use two sturdy rubber bands to tie it in place. One at the height of where you want to cut your hair and one about ten inches lower.
- Just above the top elastic, cut off your ponytail.
- Insert your ponytail into the donation envelope and tape closed.
- Put the envelope in the mail for free.
- After your donation you will receive a thank you email
Getting a haircut at a 'Cut for Hair' hairdresser
Stop by a 'Cut for Hair' hairdresser in your area and ask to cut your ponytail. Your hairdresser will put your ponytail in a 'Cut for Hair' envelope and deliver it to Pink Ribbon.
